Book Overview and Reviews
Overview:
From St. Augustine and early Ethiopian philosophers to the anti-colonialist movements of Pan-Africanism and Negritude, this encyclopedia offers a comprehensive view of African thought, covering the intellectual tradition both on the continent in its entirety and throughout the African Diaspora in the Americas and in Europe. The term "African thought" has been interpreted in the broadest sense to embrace all those forms of discourse - philosophy, political thought, religion, literature, important social movements - that contribute to the formulation of a distinctive vision of the world determined by or derived from the African experience. The Encyclopedia is a large-scale work of 350 entries covering major topics involved in the development of African Thought including historical figures and important social movements, producing a collection that is an essential resource for teaching, an invaluable companion to independent research, and a solid guide for further study.
Reviews:
See The Zeleza Post Review by PT Zeleza, Editor, "The Poverty of African Thought: A Review" June 10, 2010: "...Unfortunately, the more I read it the more my expectations were dashed. The encyclopedia is poorly conceived and too many of the essays lack analytical rigor and seem rather dated and fail to reflect the vigorous debates in African studies within and outside the continent..."

You open your eyes, wake up ,open the doors , take a glimpse of the street and after a quick view of the lights, just bang the doors back !!  Why??!  You find it as a place you should have never lived. So where should you have actually lived?? Don't know? Or you are just ignoring it?!
Actually if you can't find out the reason at all, then I should valiantly tell you a simple truth. It is that because of certain specific reasons or external forces ,you are away from the place , the culture you should be living in.And these external forces are binding you.Thats why you are unhappy, unhappy with yourself. But where or with whom should you be??

Someone stays happy only at that place or with someone, where or with whom he/she can relate himself/herself to;may be its your old grandmother's house, your parent's house, the old neighbourhood, the little naughty kid,the silent valley or someplace else. Wherever or whenever you feel exceptional like this and that special something blows your heart on or you feel more comfortable or there being you atleast not alone, you are happy!!This may be a already known fact to you ,may be you had often observed these words in cinemas, you actually did knew it from the very beginning but you ignored it.Thats the only reason behind your frustrations.Believe it or not.I just said you the truth, now its you to decide your own fate.So what..?? Are you going to ignore it again??   Or you will just break it free ??
 Go man,just Do it !!

Remember few words, each and every person holds an ace card which have the dual property of high & low values. Now,its upto us which property do we choose or look into.
